Xtreme-Sponsored Gaz Whiter is back on the podium
Xtreme-Sponsored 3 time NZ Drift Champ Gary “Gaz” Whiter has driven the Tectaloy Nissan S14 to the podium for the first time since it was launched over the weekend at the NAC Insurance 2013 Drift Nationals.
It has been a long time testing for the close knit team since the debut of the LS-Powered S14 but the package is now bullet-proof with the Chev powered V8 now making close to 400RWKW’s comfortably along with the Xtreme Ceramic Race Clutch teamed up with the G-Force Gearbox.
Gaz came out firing with a blasting 3rd spot in qualifying setting him up for battles. Gaz was awarded a bye run coming into the top 16 where he would come up against team mate “Fanga Dan” Woolhouse. Woolhouse had been suffering some brake gremlins all days and just couldn’t match the speed of the S14 with Gaz taking a narrow win to progress to the top 8. This saw him through another bye run to finish up in a top 2 battle against Cole Armstrong in the Nissan “V Energy” R34 Skyline. Both drivers know each other very well and are fast and smooth so all was set for a fitting end to the day, with Cole winning after a minor tap between both drivers sending Gaz into a spin.
With the Tectaloy Drift Challenge only weeks away, Gaz and the team were very happy with the car all weekend and are confident the car is now set-up ready for an assault in Sydney this October.
