Podium finish after an action-packed Bathurst 1000
In what would be considered one of the most contoversial and action packed races in the great race’s history, the ACS-Sponsored No #360 Nissan Altima driven by James Moffat and Taz Douglas has taken a sensational second place at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Moffat and Douglas ended a frantic, controversial and historical race on the podium after sustaining substantial damage to their #360 Nissan Altima.
Douglas was involved in two incidents at Griffins Bend (Turn 2). The first came after contact with Cameron Waters, the second due to the track surface break-up which caused an eventual red flag on lap 61.
The result gives Nissan its first podium result in the Bathurst 1000 since 1992 when Jim Richards and Mark Skaife won in their Nissan R32 GTR.
The second ACS-Sponsored Nissan Altima of Michael Caruso and Dean Fiore endured a difficult day when a power steering issue caused them to drop several laps but with consistency managed 15th spot.
The #36 Altima was the fastest on the time sheets in the final practice session in the lead up to the 161-lap race.
The next event is the Castrol Edge Gold Coast 600 held at the Surfers Paradise street track on October 25th-27th.
