Xtreme Clutch in Top Gear

Xtreme Clutch has come off another successful weekend showcasing their latest in Performance Clutch and Flywheel products at the Top Gear Festival. The Top Gear Festival, now in its second year has special guests Jeremy Clarkson and James May from the highly successful Top Gear UK as well as the Redbull F1 Race Team with Australian-driver Daniel Ricciardo. They were also joined by Lee Holdsworth and Will Davison from V8 Supercar Team, Mercedes Erebus and Craig Lowndes from V8 Supercar Team, Redbull Racing.

The 2-day event is filmed for the Top Gear special in Australia with the team performing various stunts on the Main Straight in front of a sell-out Grandstand. The Highlight for the weekend was the exciting race between the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes Benz V8 Supercar, the SLS AMG GT3 car, a Ducati Superbike, a WRC rally car and the Red Bull RB7 Formula 1 car. The starting order was determined by “one-on-one” races held throughout the day so the slower cars were given a head start with the faster ones doing the chasing. First off the mark was Neal Bates in a Toyota Corolla WRC rally car with Troy Bayliss on the Ducati Superbike soon after. They were followed by the E63 V8 Supercar and the SLS AMG GT3. Last to leave the start line were the Tilton Evo and the RB7. The staggered start spread the field out quite considerably. The awesome speed, acceleration and handling of the RB7 were evident even to those uninitiated. The collective sigh heard from the grand stand as it screamed past, was a testament of the car’s presence and universal appeal. The RB7 was arguably the fastest on track with a lap time of 1.26.27, and then followed by the Tilton Evo at 1.28.42, Erebus SLS GT3 and V8 Supercar at 1.32.131 and 1.32.656 respectively. The Ducati Panigale R clocked in 1.33.971 and the Toyota WRC car came in at 1.41.222.

Another exciting part of the event was the Just Car Insurance Drift Demonstrations throughout the weekend. Xtreme-Sponsored driver Jake “Driftsquid” Jones along with a handful of drivers from all over Australia put on some demonstrations which simply left some who had never seen drift before not only stunned but amazed. With the cars travelling upwards of 150KMPH down the main straight at Sydney Motorsport Park, many drivers including Jake were struggling to get much more than a couple of laps out of a brand new set of tyres. Jake was also putting on a show for the crowd on the Yokohama / Advan Sponsored Skidpan with several demonstrations over the weekend.

Xtreme Clutch also had a trade display over the weekend in with several Clutch Kits on display from the Xtreme, Xtreme Outback and the Clutchpro Range. The Xtreme Range was also on display with the ROH Wheel’s Toyota 86 who had a trade display directly opposite.

If you do have any enquiries or questions regarding any of the Xtreme Range then please don't hesitate to call 1800CLUTCH or send enquiries to sales@xtremeclutch.com.au

Competition drifting pushes cars to their absolute limits mechanically so reliability is key. I’ve been using an Xtreme 230mm twin plate clutch for two seasons now and it’s proven to be stronger than many other brands used previously. We inspected it after the first season and it looked brand new!
